I just ordered one of these paddles a week ago. I saw it early and really wanted it last year. Haven't gotten out so I can't give a review yet but Yakkers will know its worth just by the design. Thank you for producing a quality product. It's substantial so it will last but light and compact enough it will store easy. No I am not affiliated or paid by Backwater. LOL just like the product.

lurechucker - yes I have fished that river The Coosa many times. Like ctgalloway21 said you have to have flow in the river or they don't bite as well. The other river The Tallapoosa is a great river also. Less fished as the access is limited. I just did 28 miles on that river a few days ago. Fishing was bad as they were fluctuating the river by 6 feet overnight. maiyak I'm going to suck at the no humor rule so watch out.
Really looking to hook up with some folks and fish some rivers. Only 1 friend fishes with me now and he doesn't get out as much. So if anyone is headed out soon let me know.

Welcome! I used to work just south of Montgomery at a fish farm owned by Sam Spencer. Do much fishing in Wetumpka? That river always looked awesome! We need a tourney there sometime.

Welcome Lil'bigpole. Great name, but it does seem to offer unfortunate implications. You can find some good information on this site. There's a few Alabama members, hopefully now we have one who knows how to catch fish.
Of course, JR is from Alabama and knows how to catch fish, but he'll move to Georgia some day. I can just tell.

Not sure where this goes hope this is ok. Just wanted to say hello and let folks know there is a kayaker in Montgomery AL. Cant wait to see what this forum is about. Just for some clarity my name is a trail name given on a fly fishing trip. Referenced my 5 piece fly rod. I have Poarch Creek Indian in my blood so hope the humor can be appreciated.

Dangle a BPS stop on the way home and BOOM the minibus is full again. Now I'm scrambling for more boats.
For any interested I plan to bring a water test kit and seine to do a pond check on the fish population. If anyone has decent scales bring them so we can calculate a relative weight on some of the fishes caught. Might also pull some scales to look at age and growth. That'll help Tim with future management decisions.
If you have a pond of your own feel free to bring water & weed samples for analysis & recommendations if you like. I'll be there all day. Glad to help out if needed.
Doug - track my wife Sheena down that day too. She really appreciated the worms you sent. Thanks again!
Looking forward to Sat. Should be fun.

it's gonna be a GREAT event! Unfortunately i'll be busy that weekend with office stuff
There's 2 tourney's and the Junior event that weekend, but the only one I'm bummed about missing is the SKA event that I wanted to help out with. Good luck to all the guys/gals that come out to fish!

Hey Guys,
Ed Halm here, owner of Backwater Paddle Company and manufacturer of the Assault Hand Paddles.
Thanks for the warm welcome into your paddle sports community. We endeavor to provide revolutionary paddle products into the paddle sports market. We do not intend to just be another paddle sports manufacturer. Our patented "hook and teeth" blade design provides stealth and mobility for the paddle sportsmen.
It is in our future to produce full size kayak, canoe and SUP paddles. As I am a one man band, I have to balance the bucks while designing new products. It is simply a matter of capital at this point before we move ahead with the full size paddles.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at:
I appreciate your time and consideration in choosing our paddles for your next kayak angling adventure. Paddle on my friends!!

Staying on topic ... « Result #28 on May 21, 2013, 12:50pm »
Guys ... lets make an effort to keep posts "on topic" and in their respective categories. We still have people posting stuff for sale or posting fishing trips in General Chat ... even though we have categories for both of those. Also ... please keep the "chit chat" and busting of each others ball/balls in the appropriate areas and not in the Sponsor category. Contrary to popular belief ... by some very prominent members... people DO READ this stuff !
Also ... I will be adding a Junior category shortly to give these SKA young guns a place to hang and chat it up . It will be monitored of course ... but my intent is to give them a place of their own to talk fishing... so be mindful of what you say on the board. I will probably make General Chat and Off Topic off limits to the Juniors... but by all means feel free to post up and answer questions in the Junior category.

I am digging my Bending Branches Pro Angler 240cm. And they did something EVERYBODY ought to do, they used reflective decals. All of these black kayak decals ought to be reflective. I put red and white reflective tape on my old paddle and on the tops and bottom of the boat. Cheap insurance. Just in case.
So there you go Ed, would be a cool little feature for your big paddle. I still want one of these hand paddles.

JR ... I'm ready too! Good luck to ALL the Juniors and if I may offer a bit of advice ... think E2! This is an E2 lake Fo'Sho ... And no worries ... I have a fresh stock of worms on hand for the tourney ... and don't leave your Rapalas at home either ..
